Hi, I have Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2. Taskbar Eliminator does exactly what I want it to do and I love the simplistic preferences, however the program only completely hides my taskbar for a few minutes. I have the program set to "Hide Taskbar"+"Start with Windows", but I constantly have to keep pressing alt+t to hide the taskbar again and again. It's probably my own fault but am I actually doing something wrong, or how can I fix this? I do love this program and it works better than all the other programs like it that I have used.
I love the program, but I have a similar problem as Alan, though i know whats causing the problem. Every time i use the volume keys on my keyboard, or lock and relogin to my desktop the taskbar will reappear. I change the volume often of course, so i have to push Alt-T constantly to rehide the taskbar. Any way to fix this?
You want to go into the features and disable all notifications, you should do this through Vista as well as your main programs.
Beyond your problem my taskbar still appears when I open a new program. I'm afraid there isn't a way to work around it blasted Microsoft!
Hi David!
The taskbar should definitely not appear when you open a new program - thats a different(very odd) issue. Make sure you download the latest version (2.8). This should fix a lot of the taskbar-reshowing issues, plus it hides the start button too. Disabling notifications is also a possible - if annoying - solution.
:)
I have the same problem, every once in a while the taskbar keeps reappearing. I don't know what triggers it. It shows in auto hide mode. I'm using xp.
There is an answer, which you may or may not like.
Taskbar Eliminator worked wonderfully for me, but everytime something popped up in my system tray, like Ares or if I disconnected my laptop from the power source (thereby revealing the battery level), it would "break". The only solution I've found is disabling the system tray, using a registry hack: http://www.techmixer.com/disable-system-tray-icons-on-windows-xp-vista/
If you don't want to risk hacking your system, don't try it, but its very safe and very easy to reverse, IMO.
However, the TE still breaks if you log out of your system or put it on standby, but if you've put TE on a simple hotkey, like I have, it shouldn't be much of a problem, as you can just refresh it.
Again, TE still breaks for me, inexplicably, when I switch on Photoshop CS5. No other program, and certainly no previous version of Photoshop, does this.
Disabling system tray solved the problem.
Cheers :)
Just to say, I have this problem as well, it'll randomly pop up, not really sure what causes it. I'm trying the system tray fix now.
hey
THANKS FOR THIS GREAT PROGRAM!!!
UNFORTUNATELY … i have the same problem :(
using version 2.9
every time some new icon is showing up in the tray, the taskbar is coming back.
f.e.: when i start microsoft outlook (which creates an icon in the tray).
hope you can fix it.
THANKS ANYWAY!!

I've used this for about 6 months now, and always had the problem in Windows 7 where anything with an alert of any kind on it causes the task bar to reappear. Quite annoying, and kills the whole purpose at time as the eliminator is supposed to simplify and cause less distraction, but when it pops up it is even more distracting. For an example, I use a program called Pomodairo to time my (http://code.google.com/p/pomodairo/) and every time the timer goes off, up comes the taskbar. It should make the problem very easy to reproduce for developers, not sure why this is so difficult to fix. I'd gladly pay the $10 for the custom build, if only it would work.
sure!!
i would pay the $10 too if they would fix the problem.
