The old version was such an eyesore. The new one is much better!

We've just released a huge update to iCalcy - 2.0!

The code has been entirely rewritten, and it includes fully updated graphics, icons, and now includes scientific functions. An all-new settings screen (with the iPhone interface) is included, as well as updating functionality, button hover effects, a new navigation bar, and the 'selected' effect on operation buttons.

Thanks for the detailed report. Unfortunately the only thing I can suggest is to use the Alt + T hotkey to reapply Eliminator when that occurs. Your issue certainly doesn't affect most Windows 7 systems, so thats the best I can help with right now. We'll look into it!

I am confused as to what you mean by 'trial version? There isn't a trial version of PaintRibbon, nor will there ever be. At the moment, there is simply PaintRibbon for download - totally free. In the future, there will be an option to upgrade to PaintRibbon Complete, but that won't be available for a month or two.

You should be able to download PaintRibbon, and remove it without any problems! I would advise you try and restart your computer, then delete the file. Remember, PaintRibbon doesn't require installation, which mean you don't have to uninstall it, just delete the file.

Yep, there will be two versions. The one free for everyone which is supported by ads. Of course by 'ads' we don't mean huge popups etc etc. It is just a small rectangle -the size of a ribbon button- on the ribbon. You won't even notice it! :) You then have the option to upgrade to remove the ad for $9.99.

I'm not aware of any specific tweak which will resize the start menu, but there are lots of start menu replacements on the web. Here is one example, but there are many more - a quick google will find lots.

Taskbar Eliminator worked wonderfully for me, but everytime something popped up in my system tray, like Ares or if I disconnected my laptop from the power source (thereby revealing the battery level), it would "break". The only solution I've found is disabling the system tray, using a registry hack: http://www.techmixer.com/disable-system-tray-icons-on-windows-xp-vista/

If you don't want to risk hacking your system, don't try it, but its very safe and very easy to reverse, IMO.
However, the TE still breaks if you log out of your system or put it on standby, but if you've put TE on a simple hotkey, like I have, it shouldn't be much of a problem, as you can just refresh it.

Again, TE still breaks for me, inexplicably, when I switch on Photoshop CS5. No other program, and certainly no previous version of Photoshop, does this.

I would like to request a hotkey that doesn't toggle - so I can be sure that when this key is pressed, the bar will always be hidden.

I'm trying to use Taskbar Eliminator with AutoHotKey but the toggle key thingy makes programming a bit more difficult (it's difficult to know if bar will be shown or hidden when the key will be auto-pressed - since bar often is re-shown when programs launch)

@ ryan: an AutoHotKey key re-binding should solve that problem.

I believe this would be a great tweak or tool to have that Microsoft left out of Win 7.

If you know how to do this or can make a tool or explain a tweak it would be greatly appreciated.

The taskbar should definitely not appear when you open a new program - thats a different(very odd) issue. Make sure you download the latest version (2.8). This should fix a lot of the taskbar-reshowing issues, plus it hides the start button too. Disabling notifications is also a possible - if annoying - solution.

Beyond your problem my taskbar still appears when I open a new program. I'm afraid there isn't a way to work around it blasted Microsoft!

Taskbar Eliminator won't have any lasting effects on the system, its hides it purely temporarily - without changing any system files etc.

TB Eliminator 2.3 is now popup-free, just download the new version.

It would be very strange if Taskbar Eliminator has hidden your start menu as well. It will have hidden your start button on the taskbar so you can't access the start menu through that. Have you tried pressing the windows key on your keyboard? The start menu should pop up:)

If not, try returning XP to its default theme and checking if the start menu is still not appearing?
